Not the First Kiss

Date: 2007-09-25 07:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] starglyph.livejournal.com
Jack’s eyes closed and he sighed.

Daniel felt the warm breath on his lips. Inhaled it into his mouth. He kissed the firm lips beneath his own and drew the tip of his tongue along across the bottom one, tasting the wetness. He dusted small kisses across Jack’s face, the closed eyes, that one scarred eyebrow that Jack accused him of having a kink for. He again pressed his lips to Jack’s.

“We must leave now, Daniel Jackson. I will carry him.”

Daniel stumbled when he tried to stand. From his lips, Daniel licked the blood from their last kiss.

(Huh. That turned out at exactly 100 words and is the first thing I’ve written in months.)

... but still the first Kissathon kiss! and it's a doozy.

Wo -- intense way to start things off and get back into the writing groove! And a perfect 100-worder too. Awesome on all counts.

I love the effect Teal'c's statement has. I was totally jarred because I thought I was in a private Daniel/Jack scene, and there's this unmistakable Teal'c dialogue ... and then what Teal'c is saying comes through, and gets processed as I'm reading the next sentence, so by the last sentence I'm all poleaxed. Very cool effect on the reader, and cool re-creation of the effect on Daniel, who's probably pretty jarred himself. Yow.

And I'm re-posting this comment to switch icons, for some kind of re-posting record here. *g*

Pissy

Date: 2007-09-26 02:11 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] melayneseahawk.livejournal.com
"For the last time, Jack, stop touching things!"

"Ooh, someone's pissy today," Jack said, putting down the rock he'd been playing with and stuffing his hands in his pockets.

"Pissy?" Daniel asked incredulously. "Pissy?! You invade my office, keep me from working, mess with priceless artifacts, but when I tell you to stop, I'm pissy?"

"Yup," Jack said, shit-eating grin firmly in place. "Pissy."

"Arg!" Daniel stomped out from behind the desk and over to Jack, close enough that their chests were almost touching. "You infuriating, insufferably ass! You, you -- " He grabbed Jack's lapels and the next thing Jack knew they were kissing, a battle of teeth and tongues. Jack brought his arms up around Daniel's back and the kiss gentled, becoming softer and slower.

Daniel's death grip on Jack's lapels loosened and his finger slipped up Jack's neck to tangle in his hair. He made a soft sound against Jack's lips and then pulled back for air. "Pissy?" Jack asked, smirking.

"Ass," Daniel said, reeling Jack in for another kiss.

Kiss kiss kiss (kiss)

Date: 2007-09-28 11:37 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jd-junkie.livejournal.com
Jack wasn’t entirely sure what it was that had make Daniel come like that. Whatever it was, he wanted to bottle it for future use.

Sweat was cooling on them both, adding a delicious shiver to the ongoing aftershocks. The salt drops were running in rivulets down Daniel’s back and Jack watched in fascination as each one hurdled the nobbles of his spine.

He leaned down to run a warm, hungry tongue up Daniel’s beautiful, broad back, licking the salt away.

Daniel was still convulsing; he couldn’t keep still.

Jack nuzzled up into the sweaty nape and whispered, “Hey, turn over I wanna see you.”

Breathing heavily, Daniel shifted and Jack finally got to look at him; his eyes were wild, restless. He turned his head away. Daniel seemed elsewhere, unable to relax, to give himself to the peace that usually followed the loving.

“Hey,” Jack said again, cupping Daniel’s head in his hand. “It’s okay. Ssshhh. It’s okay.”

Still restless, still distracted, Daniel nuzzled hard into Jack’s warm palm. Jack gasped slightly as a tongue gingerly lapped at his hand. The tentative strokes became bolder until Daniel finally pulled Jack’s hand away, and eyes closed, kissed each fingertip softly, achingly tenderly, sucking each finger into his mouth firmly afterwards.

Tiny high-pitched, desperate sounds escaped Daniel’s lips with each kiss; one, two, three, four. Then he kissed Jack’s palm again, those full, swollen lips moving firmly, telling him in every way that he loved him, needed him, needed this, before returning the hand to cradle his face. He seemed to begin to calm. Finally.

Jack swallowed hard. Oh yeah, he wanted to bottle it …

They stood side by side as the village leader spouted on and on. Jack's hands rested on his gun, eyes flicking over to Daniel who was attentive to the speech being given. Sam and Teal'c were jus behind them, the rest of the village gathered around them. Jack felt Daniel's eyes on him and he realized the leader had finished speaking.

"Jack, we have to...," Daniel said, the implication clear.

"Sweet."

His hands moved from his weapon to frame Daniel's face. Daniel's eyes gleamed and a small smile played across his lips. Jack replied with a grin of his own before kissing Daniel.

No matter how many times they went through this, it always gave Jack a thrill. Kissing Daniel in public offworld when he couldn't at home.... His kiss went from soft and gentle to hard and passionate as Daniel pulled him closer.

"Ahem."

They broke apart, turning to Sam who was blushing. Teal'c seemed to be smiling as only he could. Daniel licked his lips and said something to the leader who responded.

"So do we have a treaty?" Jack asked.

"We do," Daniel said. "He, uh, wishes us a long and happy life."

Jack just grinned some more before putting his cap back on and gesturing to his team.

"Let's go home, kids."

They started back towards the 'gate. Daniel caught Jack's attention, giving him a look that promised much for when they got back home.

Aww! Jack so not wanting to leave and go back to pretending-we're-not-together land! Daniel so sensing him there and turning over for the kiss! Love it. Love the double press of lips especially. :-)

Dunno if it was coincidence or not, but I just finally mentioned the kissathon in my journal and this felt like an insta-response, very fun. Thank you for writing!

As Time Goes By

Date: 2007-10-01 03:14 am (UTC)
sid: (J/D Of course I do)
From: [personal profile] sid
Jack always felt chilly after sunset these days. Daniel brought him the cardigan Cassie's daughter had knitted for him a few years back, and helped him shrug into it, since stiffness came with the chilliness. "Thanks, dear," Jack said with that self-deprecating sideways twist to his lips that the years had done nothing to change.

Daniel settled in beside Jack on the couch and gave him a quick peck on the mouth. "You're welcome." He picked up the book he'd been reading.

Jack leaned closer and put his arm around Daniel's shoulders. "That wasn't much of a kiss," he growled into Daniel's ear.

Daniel laughed and turned his head to comment, but Jack stole the words from his mouth with a kiss that had his book sliding from his hands unnoticed, and landing on the floor next to his curling toes.

Breathing a little heavily, Jack finally lifted his head. One of his hands stroked the soft swell of Daniel's belly as he asked, "Who's your old man?"

"Nobody but you, Jack," Daniel told his husband, utter contentment in his voice.

Negotiations

Date: 2007-10-01 06:17 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] melayneseahawk.livejournal.com
In retrospect, Jack had to admit that it took heroic effort for Daniel to hold back his obvious tirade until the diplomatic meeting broke up and he could tug Jack into a small sun room off the main hall. "Three days of negotiation," he spat, without preamble. "Three days to negotiate to see their 'secret weapon' and all we get is -- "

"Horseshit," Jack supplied, grinning. He should dial down the amusement a bit, he knew, but Daniel was too furious to notice and Jack couldn't help himself.

"Horseshit!" Daniel agreed, hands waving as he paced.

"They said it was good fertilizer," Jack offered but Daniel just growled at him. Deciding a little damage control was in order, he grabbed Daniel's hands on the next pass, barely resisting the urge to laugh as it took Daniel's feet a few additional seconds to realize he'd stopped moving. Dropping his hands, Jack cupped the archaeologist's face and planted a kiss on him.

Jack let Daniel take control of the kiss, merely going along with the ride as it went from fierce and full of teeth to something slower and gentler before Daniel pulled away with a soft sigh. "Better?" Jack asked, panting slightly.

"I guess," Daniel said, though he looked a good bit calmer.

"Good, now get back out there," Jack said, pushing Daniel toward the door with a pat on the butt. "You can pay me back later." He grinned when Daniel grumbled something uncomplimentary in Arabic before squaring his shoulders and going back out. It would hold the archaeologist for the time being, but Jack knew he was in trouble when they got home. He couldn't wait.

Shoop Shoop

Date: 2007-10-01 08:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jd-junkie.livejournal.com
“Go on, I dare you.” Sam pushed him in the back, nudging him towards Jack who was standing face away from them both, talking to a newly-retired General Hammond.

“Um, what?”

“Dare you.”

“You’re being ridiculous.”

“Double dog dare you,” she sing-songed, eyes alight from one too many margaritas. “Daniel Jackson you are officially a wuss.” Sam hiccupped and grinned inanely at him.

“Daniel sighed. “Okay. I’m a wuss.”

Sam lurched towards him and pouted. “You’re not supposed to agree. You’re supposed to repu …, um, rej …” she stopped, thinking painfully hard. “Deny! Deny it,” she said, delighted with herself for finishing the sentence.

“I do, repu … rej … deny it. I am not a wuss. I’m also not about to kiss Jack in front of General Hammond, a roomful of marines and especially Teal’c.”

Sam snorted and drew herself up to her full height. “Alrighty. I’ll do it.” She shoved Daniel in the chest to get him out of her way.
Daniel caught her arm. “Erm, no. You’re drunk and you will so regret it in about six hours’ time … I’ll do it.”

Sam blinked slowly, throwing Daniel a “My hero” kind of look. Theatrically, she waved him on.

Daniel coughed and moved towards Jack, tapping him on the shoulder. He cleared his throat as Jack turned.

“Daniel.”

“Jack.”

Jack tilted his head. “Something I can do for you?”

“Sam says I have to kiss you.”

“Really?”

“Said I was a wuss.”

“Wuss, you say.” Jack’s eyes danced with mischief. He put his hand on the back of Daniel’s neck and pulled him in, planting his lips firmly on Daniel’s. Their mouths moved slowly in sync as they shifted their bodies closer, Jack’s hands framing Daniel’s face as Daniel slid his arms around Jack’s waist.

The kiss deepened, Jack’s tongue seeking and being granted entrance. They duelled for supremacy, nose-breathing when it became obvious no air was going to force its way into their heavily-occupied mouths.

Eventually forced apart by the threat of total oxygen deprivation, they parted, eyes shining.

Jack winked at Daniel. Daniel licked his lips.

Both turned at the soft thud of Sam’s body slumping to the floor.

The room was silent.

Jack shrugged and snagged some food from a nearby table. “Cheese and pineapple on a stick, anyone?”

Not For the First Time

Date: 2007-10-05 05:31 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] starglyph.livejournal.com
This is a little masturbatory, cross-pollenization experiment. :) I wrote a five things list with the title shown below. This was the #5 on the list -- originally. I abandoned it and started a different one, which I used in my list at [livejournal.com profile] sg1_five_things. Then the Kissathon happened and this seemed to fit, so I finished it. It should work as a standalone, but here’s the link if you care to read the original. Link to the whole page because it’s in three parts Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jd_commentfic for the playground lab. :)

Five headaches SG-1 gave George Hammond, which he was finally able to laugh about at his retirement party. Version .05

5. Although the party wound down early -- Hammond apologized profusely for his headache -- Jack and Daniel had enough time to catch up with their friends, even though they’d been the last to arrive. It was too bad the tickets Daniel had surprised Jack with, turned out to be the same night as Hammond’s retirement party. At least they’d gotten to see the first half of their favorite opera. Their tuxedos were a bit much for the small gathering, but Hammond was so happy to see them both, they were glad they hadn’t taken the time to change.

As they always did when attending a downtown event when Daniel made his semi-monthly visits to Jack in Washington, they were heading into the elevator to go up to their shared hotel room.

Alone in the elevator, Daniel joined Jack, leaning on the back wall, watching the slow change of the floor numbers. A muted Sinatra could be heard from the speakers.

Jack nudged Daniel slightly, asking, “What?”

“Hammond told me, that worrying what I might discover about him and Walter was a constant headache when we were on SG-1.” Daniel grinned, pressing his shoulder warmly against Jack’s. “Then he laughed so hard I was worried for a minute.” Though they were alone, Daniel lowered his voice and spoke softly into Jack’s ear. “Did he tell you that, too? And why?”

Jack snorted. “I told you I saw Hammond with Walter years ago, Daniel, but you didn’t believe me!”

“So? I told you about Teal'c and Mitchell, and you didn’t believe me, either.”

“For cryin’ out loud. You didn’t even know about Carter and that Vala!”

“Give me a break. You were clueless, too. And I always thought Sam had a thing for you.”

“So did I. And I thought Vala liked you.”

“Same here.” Daniel shrugged, his shoulder rubbing against Jack’s. “The one that surprised me most was Paul Davis and Graham Simmons. I didn’t know they even knew each other.”

“What about Jacob and Bra’tac?” Jack shuddered. He pressed his hand against the small of Daniel’s back as they left the elevator. “And Selmak,” he added with another shiver. He put his arm across Daniel’s shoulders as they walked down the carpeted hall to their room.

“What about Jonas? He was with Siler, and then Nyan for a while, too.”

“Quinn was a slut.”

Daniel nodded, opening the hotel room door. “Do you ever think we should have--”

“No.” Jack walked in, pulled at his tie, and began undressing.

“You don’t even know what I was going to say.” Daniel locked the door, kicked off his shoes and undressed to his boxers, while Jack went into the bathroom to get ready for bed.

“You were going to say,” Jack continued, exiting the bathroom and brushing by Daniel, who was on his way in, “we should have known about all of them.” Jack slipped his boxers off, pulled back the bedcovers on the bed closest to the door, and stretched out on the sheets with a groan.

Leaving the bathroom, Daniel slipped off his briefs. He pulled the covers down on the other bed and stopped to wave a hand in the air. “We’ve been totally clueless for years!”

Jack snorted. “Not as clueless as them.”

“Well, no.” Daniel rearranged the pillow and bedcovers before turning around to face the other bed.

Standing over Jack’s lean and muscular, but city-paled form, Daniel stroked his cock, matching Jack’s rhythm as he fisted his own.

“We’re good at hiding things,” Jack rasped out. His dark eyes were captivated by the slick slide and pull of Daniel’s hand. “We’re the best.”

Daniel spread his legs -- suggesting, welcoming. “You’re the best.”

Jack took the invitation, offering up two fingers to be sucked. Daniel curled down and grabbed Jack’s hand, sucking on the offered fingers. The pace of their strokes sped up along with their panted breaths. They tightened their grips, thrust their hips, and moaned in unison.

When Jack arched his back, Daniel groaned around the spit-slick fingers and released his hand. Smoothly, Jack slid the wet fingers behind Daniel’s heavy, swaying balls. He rubbed the smooth patch of skin there, before slipping his fingers into the small opening.

Grasping the headboard in anticipation, Daniel’s knees soon gave way to brace against the edge of the bed. In seconds, he was gasping, coming, hard and long. Moaning, fighting to keep his eyes open, he watched the white streaks of his semen score Jack’s chest, pearling in the sparse hair, branding the dog tags. He knew it was primal, that it was marking -- that it was what he always ached to see. Daniel saw the glistening beads clinging to Jack’s chains and his cock spurted again as he groaned.

Jack’s eyes were closed now, his fingers lax inside of Daniel. His other hand had slowed it glide along the length of his penis.

It was rare that Jack didn’t come just from watching Daniel orgasm. Daniel knew what Jack was waiting for, what he wanted, what he held off for.

“Daniel.” A plea.

Legs shaking, Daniel eased Jack’s fingers out, slowly letting his arm down to the bed. He arrested Jack’s attempt to raise it and pinch a semen-dotted nipple.

That’s all it would take.

Or Daniel could pinch it. Or bite it. Or.

Remembering to Breathe

Date: 2007-10-06 09:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tresa-cho.livejournal.com
"Come on Daniel," Jack hissed, drawing back and licking his lips. He pushed his hand through Daniel's water-laden hair, forcing his chin to stay up.

"Four, three, two, one- go," Carter barked beside him. Jack leaned down and sealed his lips over Daniel's, pinching the archeologist's nose shut with one hand while the other held his jaw steady. The soldier exhaled hard, watching out of the corner of his eye as Daniel's chest rose slowly. Like a living balloon. Keyword being living.

He rocked back after four breaths, eyes on Daniel's face as Carter counted seconds. The only sound was Teal'c firing his staff at the witch hunters trying to come through the doorway.

"Four, three, two, one- go," Carter snapped. Jack bent over Daniel's inert body and blew hard into his mouth. He hadn't inhaled for his second breath when Daniel's body jerked under him. Jack pulled back, but not before catching some of the water that had been in Daniel's lungs. He twisted his head away and quickly spat.

"Daniel!" Carter cried out. Jack's hand shot out and grasped the front of Daniel's shirt, hauling him into a sitting position as Daniel choked on water coming up. The linguist coughed violently, hand fisting in Jack's soaked t-shirt as he trembled. Jack pulled his free arm around Daniel's shoulders. The coughing subsided as he managed to get a hold of himself. Jack pulled him tight against his chest. The shaking wouldn't stop.

"So I passed, right?" Daniel whispered with a weak chuckle. Jack growled low in his throat as Carter smiled and passed Daniel his glasses. Wrapped in Jack's embrace, he managed to wriggle an arm out to collect them. He jammed them on his face and craned his neck to look at Jack. "Not how I would have imagined our first kiss." He pouted.

Jack released a chuckle that sounded more like a shaky sigh of relief and pressed his lips to Daniel's forehead, closing his eyes and reveling in the scent of a live Daniel, just for a moment.

The Tipping Point

Date: 2007-10-07 03:18 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jd-junkie.livejournal.com
A/N: I seem to be spamming the Kissathon. Apologies. Promise this'll be the last. It appears that I just want the boys to keep kissing ...

Some time round about midnight, it all became a little too much.

It had been a long day. A long and happy one, granted, but sometimes, happiness can tip over into something else entirely. And, after half a bottle too much of the white grenache, Daniel admitted to himself that he’d passed the tipping point.

It was probably just after the happy couple had made their tearful farewells that he finally conceded defeat. He’d gone back to his seat, poured another half glass and tried to block out the last-dance dancing, the not-so-subtle kissing and fondling that inevitably accompanied the cheesy song … the heavy accent on coupledom.

Jack was deep in conversation with some elderly man who had all the hallmarks of a Second World War vet. Unobserved, Daniel’s eyes raked Jack; he looked good, even though he’d added a few pounds since his move to Washington. The hair was a little grayer, the face a little fuller. And Daniel loved every extra ounce and every extra inch.

He drained his glass and, unable to watch the ongoing mating game playing out on the dance floor any longer, took himself to the ballroom’s huge French windows which opened on to the terrace. The air was blessedly cool. He loosened his tie and stepped on to the top stone-flagged step, breathing in deeply. He felt a little better.

“Feel any better?” Daniel started slightly, unaware that he’d been followed. Special ops stealth had a lot to answer for.

“I’m fine.”

“Sure you are.”

“You didn’t have to come out here. You were deep in conversation.”

“I was deep in conversation and keeping any eye on you.”

So much for being unobserved.

Daniel shoved his hands in his pockets and walked down to the bottom step, Jack following. The sounds of the party receded with every step and Daniel felt his uneasy mood start to fade with the music. By unspoken mutual agreement, they carried on walking into the formal rose garden.

“Great party,” Said Jack, mirroring Daniel by putting his hands in his suit pockets. He jingled some keys; Daniel always found it annoying.

“Yes. I hope they’ll be very happy.”

They halted and watched in silence as a flash of summer lightning lit the sky and waited for the distant thunder … one thousand, two thousand, three thousand … and the rumble came. “We’d better get back.” Daniel turned to go. Jack grabbed his jacket lapel and pulled him behind a moss-covered statue of Venus. They were hidden from everyone here.

Jack put a gentle hand to the back of Daniel’s neck and pulled him in for a long, slow kiss that was known and familiar but still had the power to shake Daniel to his core. They kissed for a long time, sure and sweet and loving, Jack’s hands running over Daniel’s shoulders as Daniel’s encircled his waist.

They broke apart and Daniel opened his eyes to find Jack smiling at him. “I’ve been wanting to do that all damn day,” he said, running a thumb across Daniel’s cheek.

Daniel felt close to tears for any number of reasons he couldn’t properly put a name to.

Jack leaned in again, planting a series of light, feathery kisses on Daniel’s lips.

“I’ve wanted to kiss you all day.” Kiss. “And I want to love you all night.” Kiss. “I’m going to take you to your room.” Kiss. “And I’m going to suck you slowly until you come.” Kiss. “And then I’m going to make love to you, long and slow and deep.” Kiss. “And then I’m going to do it all again.”

One final, light kiss and Jack whispered against Daniel’s mouth, making sure he felt as well heard the words. “Because I love you, Daniel. And one day, every last fucking one of them will know it.”

Daniel smiled gently into Jack’s eyes and read the truth there.

Every last fucking one.

Two Thousand Miles and a Phonecall Away

Date: 2007-10-07 10:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] melayneseahawk.livejournal.com
(Note: This one kind of plays fast and loose with the prompt, but what can you do?)

"So Sam tried to blow herself up again today," Daniel said into the phone perched between his cheek and shoulder as he dumped the last of his laundry in the washer and measured out the correct quantity of soap. "Don't ask me what she was doing, but she singed the tips off her hair again. She says her hairdresser hates her."

Jack's chuckle drifted down the phone line. "You kids are never boring, even when you're grounded," he said. From the sounds in the background, Daniel guessed Jack was going over paperwork before bed. "How's Mitchell doing?"

"Carolyn says he should be off the crutches in another week," Daniel said, dumping in the soap and turning on the machine. "Then a few weeks of PT and he should be good as new. He's a bad patient, I'm told."

"First name basis, huh?" Jack teased, and Daniel could picture the other man's eyebrows wiggling suggestively in his mind's eye. "Should I be worried?"

"Don't be an ass," Daniel said comfortably, the laugh barely contained. "Don't tell the general, but I I don't think Carolyn and Cam are only seeing each other in the infirmary."

"Secret's safe with me," Jack said. They drifted into companionable silence as Daniel put up a can of soup for dinner. The sound of Jack's breathing in his ear was more than enough to remind him that the other man was still there, even if a continent separated them. "Are you going...away anytime soon?" Jack asked carefully after a while, and Daniel heard the muted clunk of the stapler.

"SG-9 wants me to come with to translate next week," Daniel said, idly stirring the contents of the pot in front of him. "Landry hasn't ok-ed it yet, but I'm pretty sure he will."

"Tell Reynolds he'd better bring you back in the condition you left in," Jack said peevishly. "And that he can expect to find himself reassigned to Antarctica if he doesn't."

"Jack, be nice," Daniel said, laughing as he turned off the burner and poured the soup into a bowl. "I should go, it's hard to eat soup with the phone glued to my face."

"That stuff's too salty," Jack said. "You're going to kill yourself if you keep eating it."

"Yes, Mother," Daniel sing-songed, dumping the pot in the sink and putting the bowl on the table along with a spoon and a glass of soda. "I'll tell everyone you say 'hi'?"

"Youbetcha," Jack said, and Daniel smiled at the Minnesota lilt. "Miss you, Danny," the other man added quietly, the simple words carrying all the things they couldn't say over the phone, the goodnight kiss they couldn't have until Jack finally got tired of Washington and retired.

"Miss you, too, Jack," Daniel said, voice just as soft. They stayed on the phone a little longer, and if he closed his eyes Daniel could imagine Jack's breath on his cheek before he disconnected the call.

A first and a last (Two kiss fics)

Date: 2007-10-08 01:50 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] darkness4light.livejournal.com
"You're missing my point Jack!" Daniel rounded the corner, exasperated at the older an who seemed to be mocking him.
"And that point is, Daniel?" Jack smiled, loving the way only he got this man so confused and exasperated and yet too hooked not to come back for more again and again.
Daniel sighed, giving Jack a glare and pushing his glasses up his nose. "Well if you'd been LISTENing in the briefing you would KNOW!"
Jack stopped them both as they reached Daniel's office. Walking them both in Jack locked the door behind them. "That's what I have you and Carter for isn't it? You two are the brains I just go in and shoot stuff."
"Do you do this on purpose Jack? Do you enjoy tormenting me?" Daniel pinched the bridge of his nose but stopped as Jack put his arms on his shoulders.
Jack squeezed Daniel's shoulders slightly. "Yes."
Daniel gave Jack an incredulous look. After four years they were finally having THIS talk. "Well then STOP!"
"NO!" Jack roared then steadied himself. "I like this Daniel, I like the reaction I get out of you, I like how much you want me to understand you actually argue with me. Sam and everyone else just sits there wondering why I'm not back in the cadets."
Daniel narrowed his eyes at Jack. "You LIKE this? Jack there are other reactions only you can get you know."
Jack's hope suddenly soared and he grinned. "Like how?"
"Oh shit." Daniel's eyes widened then he put his face in his hands, almost weeping.
"Like this?" Jack sidled up to Daniel and smoothed a hand down Daniel's side then took his chance as Daniel looked up, caught off-guard to lean down and capture Daniel's lips.
When they broke for air Daniel staggered slightly and smiled shyly up at Jack. "Yeah...That and others."
Jack looped his arms around Daniel's waist and tugged the other man against him. "Wanna show me over dinner at my place?"
Daniel nodded numbly and started to move out of Jack's arms. "Let me get my coat."
Jack snagged Daniel's arm as he moved away and swooped in for another kiss. "Doctor Jackson you are one amazing kisser."
Daniel blushed furiously and looked up at Jack through his eyelashes. "Thanks Jack, so are you. I love you."
Jack smoothed his hand over Daniel's cheek, a sappy smile on his face. "Ditto Danny. I love you too. Now hurry up." He ordered, unlocking the door and leaving Daniel staring at the place he'd just been.
The End

Warm evening sunlight shone through the window, lighting the two men and the front room with an orange glow. Outside, the sky was turning purple as the moon chased the sun behind the mountains. Jack sighed as he looked from the glorious sight in front of him to the glorious sight beside him. The sun hit both of them and Jack could almost see the brown that time had sped away long ago. Jack leaned over his love and smiled, speaking softly. "Hey, wake up. You're missing a beautiful sunset."
The effort with which the blue eyes opened almost drove Jack to tears, but he wouldn't cry. Smoothing his fingers through the fine, white hair, Jack stared into the deep pools of blue he'd fallen in love with decades ago. But he wouldn't cry.
They watched the sunset together and as the sun finally dipped out of sight the beeps on the heart monitor slowed. Keeping his eyes firmly on the sun Jack promised his love he wouldn't cry.
"What a beautiful sunset." The soft voice spoke beside Jack and finally he turned, the last tendrils of sun, all that was left.
Not trusting himself to speak Jack simply kissed Daniel deeply, lovingly, pouring his heart and soul into the kiss and as the last of the sunset gave way to the stars the monotone sound that Jack dreaded filled his home. And Jack cried.

The End

What a lovely way to respond to the prompt, with both the first kiss and (AGGGGH!) the last. It's so Them to kiss for the first time right on the heels of one of their typical arguments ... and the whole sunset atmosphere of the last one is beautiful and moving and sad.

Thank you for writing! :-)

Cyber kisses, sweeter than wine

{{Between Seasons 8 and 9}}

Daniel walked back to his office in a daze, his excitement only muted by the thought of Jack's undoubted reaction to his news. He decided to send an email rather than telephone, in order to spare himself the blast from the first wave of anger. But Jack needed to be reasonable. With Sam at Area 51 and Teal'c helping to shape the Jaffa Nation...and Jack himself so far away....

He opened up his mail and found a message from Jack in his inbox. The subject line was: Old Geezer Music. Daniel smiled. Was Jack file-sharing? What was he learning out there in Washington? "You can teach an old dog new tricks," Daniel muttered. He opened the email.

It said: You like these guys, right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHC1FLoSWy8

Daniel clicked on the link, curious to see what Jack was sending him. Within seconds he was lost in memories of their first tentative kisses, which had featured choked whispers and pounding hearts and absolute, stunned euphoria.

Daniel found tears starting to his eyes. Jack knew how much Daniel missed him, and he was sending him a promise. A promise that he would come back to his lover.

How was Daniel supposed to tell him now that he was going to the Pegasus galaxy?

After a few minutes thought (and a few times hitting 'replay'), Daniel copied the YouTube link into a new email, and typed in the words: We need to talk.

He hit send. And waited for his phone to ring.

Teeth and Tissue

Date: 2007-10-11 11:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] captainlogic.livejournal.com
He was fascinated by Daniel's teeth.

Hardly a poster-boy for american dentistry, the bottom row were crooked and uneven. And that made them perfect. Jack loved to dance his tongue along the rough ridges of enamel, rasping the delicate flesh as he tried to coax his lover's tongue into his own mouth. So often he dreamt of those teeth, dreamt of them teasing at his nipples, biting into his flesh.

Penetrating him.

Which was what their kissing almost always led to. They could neck like teenagers for hours, fondling each other as they slowly stoked the fires, or they could bite and butt at each other, teeth and lips clashing as they rutted against one another, desperation and desire making them clumsy.

And as those teeth sank into the base of his neck, Jack would submit, lost in the haze of their passion as Daniel would nudge and kiss his way along his salty skin, pressing love into every empty space, every shadowed corner.

The moment he woke, Jack knew he was alone in the cabin. Tossing aside the covers, he shivered a little as trapped heat was released and cold air rushed in. He shivered again as he pulled on sweat pants that had been sitting on the floor in the pre-dawn chill of the bedroom. Running one hand through his hair, he shuffled into the kitchen heading straight for the fresh pot of coffee that he knew would be there. The nightlight in the kitchen was the only light in the house but it didn't matter. He could navigate the place blindfolded. He filled the mug that was waiting for him and stirred a dash of sugar into it. After tapping the spoon against the rim of the mug to fling off the last drops of coffee, he set it back on the counter by the coffeemaker.

Wrapping both hands around the mug for warmth, he went outside, using his foot to pull the door shut, although it didn't quite latch. Good enough, he thought as he looked around the yard. With the moon already set and the sun not yet risen, the world was a murky blur in shades of black and grey. Seeing a dark silhouette against the darker backdrop of the lake, he nodded to himself. Daniel was just where he thought he'd be. He walked across the yard, the grass cold and wet against his soles. The rough wooden boards of the dock were slightly warmer, but just as wet.

Daniel stood at the end of the dock. Like Jack, he wore only an old pair of sweatpants, slung low on his hips. Steam wafted up from his mug, like a smaller cousin of the nebulous patches of fog drifting across the lake. Daniel's head turned slightly and Jack knew he'd been heard. He came to a halt beside Daniel, their bare shoulders brushing together. He could feel the heat of Daniel's body warming his flank, making the rest of his skin seem that much cooler in comparison.

A fish jumped somewhere out of sight, the splash loud in the stillness. The men sipped their coffee, watching the sky lighten as the sun rose. At first it was dimmed to a small orange ball by the encroaching mist, but it soon brightened as the fog dissipated, burned away by its rays. Off in the distance a loon called out. A rosy glow tinged with gold painted the sky above the trees on the far side of the lake but soon faded into blue as the sun climbed higher. A family of mallards glided serenely past, not 20 feet from where they stood. The touch of the sun on their skin smoothed away the goose bumps. Dawn was over. A new day had arrived.

Swallowing the last of his coffee, Jack put his free arm around Daniel's waist. "Happy anniversary," he murmured, then softly kissed Daniel's cheek.

Daniel closed his eyes and smiled.

Goodbye Kiss

Date: 2007-10-28 06:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] entrenous.livejournal.com
They argued for hours.

Escalating until, in a flash of anger, Jack swept his arm across the dining table, knocking two empty coffee mugs, a pile of unread mail, two of Daniel’s books and some legal pads onto the floor.

Ignoring the outburst, Daniel closed his eyes a moment, then calmly stood and slapped his notebook closed. He yanked the power cord from the wall, gathered his books and legal pads from the floor, tucked them all under his arm and stomped back to the study, slamming the door behind him. Jack heard the soft click of the door lock and thought, well that went well.

Grabbing his Gor-Tex coat and gloves and black knit skull cap, Jack went outside. It always snowed on the weekends. Something about exhaust fumes and the putrid cloud that always hovered over Denver this time of year caused the clouds to gather during the week until, finally, it built up enough to dump tons of snow over the whole Front Range. By Monday it would stop, only to make getting to work a pain in the ass, melt through the week, and then start over again on Friday night.

He grabbed the snow shovel leaning against the garage door. It was a dry snow, powder-like, light and fluffy, like white ash. Made the fresh stuff easier to shovel, but on the roads, it packed down tighter than wet snow and took forever to melt.

It was peaceful outside. Something about the thick low clouds acted as a natural muffler over the city. Jack shoveled the driveway until his arms ached and his back twinged, and he couldn't feel his nose anymore. He came back in, stomped snow off his boots, warmed up by the fireplace a moment, and cleaned up the mess from his outburst, realizing as he did so that he was still angry, but at himself or Daniel, he couldn’t tell anymore.

The house was quiet without Daniel tapping away on his laptop nearby, stopping to hmm thoughtfully then scribble on one of his unfilled legal pads, rustle a few pages in his notes or a book, repeat. Jack would read the newspaper, putter around the house, and remind Daniel to get up an d stretch, give his eyes a break. He even managed to coax him back to the bedroom now and then. It was companionable, and comfortable, and not a bad way to spend a snowy weekend.

Now the silence was oppressive. He missed having Daniel nearby. Even if they weren’t doing anything, he liked knowing he was there, hearing Daniel do Daniel things. Know he could walk up behind Daniel anytime and plant a soft kiss on this top of his head, or the nape of his neck, or just wrap his arms around him, feel Daniel relax and melt against him, just for a moment, before letting him get back to work. Today hadn’t really worked out that way. But Daniel couldn’t stay in that office forever. And Jack wasn’t going to be the one responsible for keeping him there.

He sighed, groaned, shuffled back to the study, knocked on the door. “Daniel,” he said, “open up.” No immediate reply. He’d kill the bastard if he was napping in there. “Daniel.”

“Not until you admit you’re wrong,” Daniel said.

“I’m willing to admit you think I’m wrong.”

“Ja-ack.” Only Daniel could make two syllables out of a one syllable name.

“I’m willing to admit that maybe I overreacted a tad,” Jack reasoned.

“A tad?”

Jack thonked his head on the door. “Daniel. I’m trying to be reasonable here, so cut me some slack, willya?”

The door opened. Daniel stood on the other side, arms folded, jaw set. He was wearing that damn yellow sweater over jeans, and he looked beautiful. Jack hated that sweater. Without words, Jack lurched forward, grabbed Daniel’s head, pressed his lips to Daniel’s. Daniel responded at once, lips moist, and warm, and god, so tender it hurt Jack inside. They kissed and kissed. Kissed like they were saying goodbye.

Jack touched his forehead to Daniel’s.

“It’s only for a year, Jack,” Daniel said softly.

He put a finger over Daniel’s lips. Jack couldn’t talk about it anymore. He was done talking. “Just…promise me one thing.”

Daniel sighed, relief mixed with anguish, as Jack reached up to touch his face. “What?”

“Promise me you’ll come back in one piece?” Jack looked down at the yellow sweater again. “One solid piece?”

Daniel’s breath whispered over Jack’s lips as he leaned forward. “I promise.”

Something in the Wine

Jack steeled himself – he’d only have one chance to do this. As the door closed behind Daniel, Jack grabbed him, pushed him up against the door, and pressed his hand across Daniel’s mouth.

“Don’t say anything, Daniel, just listen.” He spoke rapidly, whispering into Daniel’s ear. Daniel tried to nod, but Jack's hand kept him firmly in place.

“I know you’re going to tell me it’s just the wine – that there was something in that stuff we drank tonight that’s making me do this. And maybe that’s true, but it’s not forcing me to do something I don't already want – it’s just lowered my inhibitions a bit Daniel, allowing me the freedom to do something I’ve been aching to do for a long time.”

Jack moved his hand away but before Daniel could take a breath to speak, Jack closed his mouth with a kiss. His heart was pounding – a combination of the drink and sheer nerves, but he couldn’t stop. He'd been waiting for this moment for too long, he *needed* this. For a moment, Daniel went completely still. Then he jerked back sharply, banging his head soundly against the door behind him.

He heard Daniel's quick indrawn breath – and then his whispered voice: “Can I just say ow?”

Jack sighed. It look like his gamble hadn't paid off. He wondered if their hosts had left any more of that wine around - maybe if he drank enough of it, he could pretend this never happened. He pulled away, ready to apologize, but Daniel grabbed the front of his uniform and yanked him back.

“Where the hell do you think you’re going, flyboy?”

Daniel hauled Jack into a kiss, taking him by surprise. Instinctively, his mouth opened to Daniel's eager tongue as he plundered Jack’s mouth – yeah, he’d read the books, although he’d fervently deny it – and he knew the cliché, but he was military dammit, he knew plundered when he felt it, and this was it.

Too overwhelmed at first to do anything but let Daniel have his way, instinct soon kicked in and he began to reciprocate, sucking and teasing Daniel's tongue until he was doing a little plundering of his own. Reveling in the hot slide of lips and tongue, Jack forgot about everything else, lost in the kiss. Nothing else mattered – nothing but this moment.

Jack felt the kiss change, slow down and ease into something more intimate, more sensual. He reveled in the difference. This was what he'd imagined, what he'd dreamed about - this connection. He felt as much as heard Daniel moan into their kiss, and he knew - Daniel felt the same thing.

When Daniel eventually pulled back, Jack tried to follow him, but Daniel shook his head.

“No. Wait.”

Jack blinked at Daniel, trying to focus. He felt like a little boy who’d had his candy taken away, trying not to pout.

“What? Why not?”

Daniel’s voice was low and sultry.

“Don’t worry, Jack, we’ll get back to the kissing. But don’t you think we’d be much more comfortable on the bed?”

When Daniel tilted his head in that direction – raising his eyebrow the way he usually did when he knew he had the upper hand – Jack grabbed his arm and practically threw him on the bed, sprawling on top of him.

“Oh, yeah. That’s much more like it. Now, where were we?”

Easy as Dying

Date: 2007-11-15 03:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] entrenous.livejournal.com
Sixteen hours, and no end in sight.

My ass lost feeling fifteen hours and forty-five minutes ago, and the pins and needles have long spread below my waist and are now working their way above.

I don’t care. Daniel’s in my arms, and I made him a promise. Promised I’d help him through this.

I brought him to my house, into my bed, for Chrissakes. Can’t believe they let me take him out of the SGC, but there’s not a lot Janet could’ve done for him anyway, and somehow I convinced her of that. I mean, how the hell do you break an addiction to a glorified tanning bed?

Easy. Put him in the dark.

Well, it isn't easy. Anything but easy. It's killing me to see him like this, and this isn't exactly a trip to Disneyland for him, either. Now and again, Daniel will come to and he’ll grit his teeth to himself for a while, until I can actually hear his molars grinding, his jaw working against my chest where he’s buried his head. So I’ll squeeze his hand, and he’ll squeeze back, harder. Then he starts to shake, and I can feel his palms sweat, and the heat through his clothes, and every muscle in his body tenses like a wire until he can’t take it anymore, and he cries out, thrashing his legs and arms. At first I had to hold him down, straddle his waist and pin his arms and legs to the bed. A few times he nearly threw me, too. He sure cursed at me a lot. At least I'm pretty sure they're curses. The ones in English are.

Last few waves, he hasn’t needed me to restrain him, though. I guess that’s a good sign. Who the hell knows? He still clings to me, though, and trembles and sobs when he can’t stand the pain. The waves last a good five minutes, and he has maybe four, or six, or ten an hour. I stopped counting. The rest of the time he’s too exhausted to move, so he lies in my arms like dead weight, and I hold him and rock him.

I remember holding Charlie like this through the night. Feverish, sweating, shivering from whatever crud he’d managed to pick up from school. Kids are a magnet for that kind of stuff, no matter how many times you tell them to wash their hands, or take them to get flu shots, or make them take their Flintstones.

I never minded staying up with him—to hold him, rub his back, soothe him, kiss his forehead. Try to make sure he was a little comfortable so he might get some rest. It just came with the whole package of being a dad.

“Jack?” Daniel’s muffled voice comes up to me.

“Yeah?” God, my voice sounds as tired as I feel. I can’t imagine how Daniel feels. Well...actually, I can. I just don’t want to.

“Did you just kiss me?”

What the... Ah, hell. I guess I did. Kissed Daniel’s forehead—just like I had with Charlie all those times I’d stayed up with him. Seems that old instinct didn’t die out, even when Charlie did. I snuffle a weak laugh into Daniel’s hair. “Yeah. Sorry. Old habit.”

Daniel sighs quietly, then lifts his head and stares at me through tired, bloodshot eyes. He looks as if he’s going to say something and I hold my breath, expecting I don't know what. But he says nothing. He quietly reaches up, fingers sliding through my hair, pulls my face toward his. He presses his mouth to mine, soft, lingering, dry lips, slightly tacky, fastened over mine so that I have no choice but to suck, very gently, on his lower lip. I taste sweat, and tears, and something unidentifiable as anything else but Daniel. He pulls away again, oh god, too soon, soft click of our lips separating, and collapses against me, boneless.

Daniel finally sleeps. I don’t know how I ever will again.

Yeah, sure. Piece of cake.

Oh, wow. So lovely.

I was all worried at the beginning, the title combining with Jack's encroaching numbness to make me think they were dying together in some hopeless situation somewhere, and at first I read I brought him to my house, into my bed as way-back backstory to establish an established relationship. Then the next sentence clued me in that it was a recovery scenario, and the sentence after that clued me in that it was a 'Need' missing scene, and I was all 'Whooo! A "Need" missing scene in Jack's bed!' Then I happily enjoyed the rest of it, in all its achey sweetness.

how the hell do you break an addiction to a glorified tanning bed? Easy. Put him in the dark is awesome (it's such a typically funny snarky Jack-like thing to call the sarcophagus, and then it turns out to be more, turns out to be the key to Jack's approach to helping Daniel recover -- I love how you worked that), and the Jack voice is terrific through the whole thing, and the kiss on the forehead is so sweet and plausible, and the kiss on the lips is beautiful, right through soft click of our lips separating.

::big happy sigh:: Thank you for writing this!

Grand gesture

From: [identity profile] muck-a-luck.livejournal.com
I got the fish face look. I know I did.

Obviously the fish face look didn't deter him, because now he's kissing me.

Kind of nuzzling against my bottom lip. I can't get my mouth to cooperate and my brain seems to be short-circuiting because all I seem to be able to think is he's kissing me! I'm trying to think what to do, and keep coming back to he's kissing me!

Not helpful.

He's kind of biting my lower lip. Not biting really. Just gripping it gently at the corner with his lips. I can feel the soft moist-ness of them. There should be a word for what he's doing. Nibbling? No teeth. No. Wait. Teeth now.

"Jack..."

Oh, God! Was that me. I did not intend to squeak like that.

He pulls away, a funny, sweet little smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye.

"Come on," he murmurs. MURMURS?!?!. "Plantrise. During the conjunction of the four moons. Biggest mass wedding in the universe. If there was ever a time for us, Daniel, this is it."

I'm doing the fish thing again. Which is not unexpected, since this is essentially what he said the first time, though much more poetically than the first time. The first time, before he kissed me, what he said was "We should do that!"

"That" being hold hands and walk down into the natural rock formation – well, massive, recently formed (as in the last 200 years), meteorite crater – that formed the huge outdoor amphitheater. Where every 20 years or so, when the four moons circling the planet above came into conjunction so that the other three were visible in the night sky along with the planet, there was a huge mass wedding, followed by an informal orgy where the priests officiated over orgasm contests... Getting sidetracked.

Anyway, he said, "We should do that!" as we watched two men walk down into the valley together hand-in-hand, then he took my hand, and stepped right into my personal space, like he always does, though less with the hand-holding, then he went beyond anything he has ever done before and put his other hand on my hip and pulled me in and started kissing me.

And now he's kissing me again. This time, he's going for the top lip, and he's trying to sneak in some tongue and he's warm and big and solid and in my arms and it's entirely bizarre, but in a good way, I think, and I'm not sure how I feel about this whole tongue thing, but what a cultural experience.

"Jack," I say again, and what is going on with me?! Because that was all whispery and breathy. Then I can't say anything else because that is tongue. He's eating me alive, he's everywhere, and how did my hands get in his hair.

Vaguely, far away, I hear Sam say, "About time!"

And as Jack breaks away and starts sort of shuffling me down the path into the valley, and we untangle a little so we can walk down, I hear Teal'c comment, "O'Neill is quite adept at the grand gesture."

My face is burning and my stomach is in knots and my hands are sweaty and my dick is confused. Sort of half hard, but probably trying to figure out what's making my stomach so upset.

But my lips are tingling. And Jack is grinning at me like an idiot.

And I think I'm smiling back at him.

Poor clueless!Daniel. I love it. I love the timelessness of this, that this could pretty much take place anywhere in the series. Daniel's internalizations are so cute.

hen he took my hand, and stepped right into my personal space, like he always does, though less with the hand-holding, I think is my favorite. And I LOVE the end.

Ahh, I'm grinning like Jack.

SOULMATES

Date: 2007-11-16 04:39 pm (UTC)
sid: (J/D this is desire)
From: [personal profile] sid
Maybe Jack’s gaze lingered a little too long, examining and assessing. Daniel looked at him with a crinkled brow. And then the brow smoothed out and the eyes widened and heat and awareness flared between them.

Jack sent a message with a glance that said, ‘You, me, alone, now.’ And Daniel responded by doing and saying the necessary things that would unobtrusively get them away from the others for a few minutes.

When they had some privacy, Daniel lost no time stepping into Jack’s personal space. He reached out and stroked Jack’s cheek with his knuckles. “You understand,” he said simply, sadly.

Jack nodded. “Yes,” he answered thickly. And then they were kissing. Daniel was warm and solid in his arms and his taste was on Jack’s lips, and Jack poured out all the love that he’d kept inside for so long and felt it flowing back to him.

They clung to each other and kissed as though there were no tomorrow, because there wasn’t. Not for them. Desperate kisses turned salty, and Jack trembled with the passion that he couldn’t turn loose, because this wasn’t the time or the place. Or the man.

They both seemed to break off the kiss at the same moment, and Daniel burrowed into Jack’s shoulder and spoke into his ear. “I wish you were my Jack.”

Jack’s arms tightened in instinctive agreement, even as he shook his head. The statement was both true and false. “No, you don’t,” he said, and his voice only shook a little. “He’s your friend; he’s the one you fell in love with.”

“Yeah,” Daniel agreed. His mouth pressed against the side of Jack’s neck, and his breath was warm and moist against his skin. Jack had held his own Daniel this way, had felt his breath like this. But never while his lips were still tingling from warm, loving kisses.

It would never happen. Daniel didn’t love him that way.

Jack slowly pulled away from the embrace. Daniel’s face was tear-tracked, but his eyes were dry now, which was more than Jack could say for his own.

“It’s not fair,” Daniel said bitterly.

Jack opened his mouth to say something sympathetic but Daniel wasn’t finished.

Two universes are laughing at us.”

For that, Jack had to kiss him again.

The Language of Kisses

Date: 2007-11-16 06:31 pm (UTC)
ext_3440: (Default)
From: [identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com
Jack had all kinds of kisses and it had taken Daniel years to decipher them all. It was a language Daniel always looked forward to 'hearing'. There was the "thank god, you're alive" kiss that usually segued into the "I can't live without you" kiss. Daniel was fairly fond of that one; deep, wet and roving. Then there was the more common, "good morning, we're *late*" kiss. Barely a brush of the lips, but never ignored or forgotten. The "you're never going off world without me again" kiss always heralded at least one good hard fuck before they made it to the bedroom. Sometimes they didn't get out of bed again for days. And Jack wondered why Daniel was so ready to accept another team's invitation on a mission.

There was the "yes, dear" kiss, which only differed from the "oh, good, you cooked dinner" kiss in that it involved a bit of tongue. Just thinking about those made Daniel smile. Jack would never *think* of calling Daniel "dear". At least not where Daniel could hear him. Or at least not so Daniel would *have* to call him on it. A man has his pride, after all.

The "I'm sorry I hurt you" kiss was actually a series of light kisses that deepened with every one until Jack was completely laid open to him, as if to pull Daniel in where he'd be safe and secure even from Jack. It was a place Daniel was almost always willing to go. Eventually. The "I'm sorry you hurt" kiss was very different and Daniel shied away from questioning it too closely. It always started with one of Jack's full-bodied hugs and ended with the warm press of his lips along Daniel's cheek or neck. They never talked about it, it just happened when it happened.

The "I wish we could spend the night together" kiss was almost unbearably sweet. Jack could be tender without measure and never more so than when they had to part so as to maintain the fiction that they were 'just good friends'. It was similar to Jack's "I don't want to be alone" kiss, though without the passion that slipped into the latter. Then there was Jack's "I *can't* be alone right now" which was hard and achy and painful, but Daniel was always there for him. The "I need you" kiss was 180 degrees away. It was hot and sexy and nasty and Daniel could just about come from that alone. Just knowing Jack needed him, wanted him, not because anything bad had happened, not because he felt guilty or sorry or worried; he just *needed*. That one was special.

The middle of the night "oh, thank god, you're here" kisses were incredible. They rarely led to sex, but after the initial urgency, they were warm and relaxed and existed only in that special place where doubts and fears could be chased away by the presence and touch of another. Those kisses provided a haven in the darkest hours of the night and always led to the best sleep Daniel ever had.

Daniel would never admit it to anyone, because in many ways it was a little childish, but he had favorite words in all the languages he knew. Words that either rolled off the tongue like poetry, or had etymologies illustrating the rich histories of the cultures that spawned them. Sometimes, they might even just remind him of special times in his life. But like with his spoken and written languages, he had a favorite "word" in Jack's language of kisses.

The next one.
