Re: Coffee-snob!Daniel pt2

Coffee. Coffee history. Coffee celebrations. Coffee ceremonies... "Aha!" the SF walking past the door at that moment started a bit, but was moved on briskly at a gesture from Jack. "Now, *this* is what I'm talkin about." Jack gleefuly printed off the instructions, less amused with the complicated process as he reviewed it, but remained determined. "Anything worth doing is worth doing right, Dannyboy" Jack exclaimed to himself, jumping when the unexpected response came from his doorway.

"Um, yes, Jack, that would certainly be true." Daniel offered. "But how did you know I was standing here... Special Ops training aside, you were pretty absorbed in whatever it was you were doing?"

Careful to hide the "reasearch", Jack, unwilling to admit that he talks to Daniel all the time, whether or not he's actually there, tried distraction 101. "So, Daniel, Whatcha doin'? Did you need something?"

"Nope, just stretching my legs and being amused by this sudden role reversal."

"Role reversal?" Jack asked as he shuffled his printouts into the general clutter of unfinished mission reports and other office detrius.

"It's 1400 hours and I know *I* haven't eaten lunch. The problem with getting used to you coming to find me, is I stop realizing when I haven't yet been, um, found." Daniel's amused grin began to deflate as he tried to interpret the slightly choked look Jack was giving him. But then it cleared, and a squint and a smirk later Jack offered "Special Ops skills, Danny...didn't even hafta leave my office to collect you this time!"

After complaining about and then devouring every last scrap of the mystery meat, Daniel headed back to some translations for SG9, and Jack headed topside for the supplies he'd need the next morning. Daniel's birthday stuff was already ready, thanks to Sam and Teal'c. Everyone, including the General and Janet, were expected at Jack's later that night.

Deciding he'd need to keep the party going, and picking up a bottle of way overpriced red wine to ensure Daniel's need to crash at Jack's felt a little underhanded, but hey, Daniel may be frequently clueless, but was often equally hard to surprize. Jack felt a little guilty about keeping this "present" to the two of them, because, in reality it was meant to be shared with a whole tribe, "hey once I got it down pat we can bring it on the road and share with the "tribe" - without the performance anxiety" Jack thought to himself, shoving that unfortunate mental turn of phrase into the darkest corner available and shutting off the light on any alterior motives he could possibly be having.
